Probably too soon for me and Ed (travelling 1000miles to an event when your training plan consists of nailing 'Seiza ho' is probably a little OTT). I was thinking Watford for our first outing.
Next year though.....

| I'm hoping to make it. Anyone else? I think it can be done for under 200 quid including mat fees... |

Location: Milton Keynes, UK - Taidokan | I concur with my learned colleague. I checked costs today and flights are between £150 - £200 return (Easyjet - British Airways). Training looks to be approximately £50... |

| I don't mind whether it's Sunday or Monday, provided I can sleep in the dojo on the Sunday night. It's still possible to take the car, though we'd need four to share costs. That way we could do the whole thing for about £65 each plus mat fees and a little spending money... |

| Great stuff; should be an adventure... Re flights, I finally booked directly through easyjet for 164 inc travel insurance. We now just need to arrange getting 6 people to and from Gatwick. I think we can offer one car (ie 3 places)... |

Location: Milton Keynes, UK - Taidokan | Ok Bill, I'm meeting up with Sensei Yates again in Rickmansworth (as per the last adventure) and so I will discuss with him, but the airport lift sounds a promising idea.
Speak soon.

Weapons are staying at home so fingers crossed that no Bokken or Jo kata's are taught. |

Location: Milton Keynes, UK - Taidokan | I gotta bad feeling about this (http://www.gatwickairport.com/)
Suspension of all flights from 12.00 to 18.00
Last updated: 15/4/2010 - 10.30
Due to air traffic restrictions, following a volcanic eruption in Iceland, Gatwick is currently experiencing severe disruption with cancellations to the majority of flights.
From midday today until at least 6pm there will be no flights in UK controlled airspace other than in emergency situations. We strongly advise passengers not to travel to the airport, but to contact their airline for the latest information and for re-ticketing. |

| Indeed we did!!! I don't know what you said in French mange touts. Was a good adventure and definitely the training from Sensei Yates and teaching from Sensei Mugaruza was very inspiring!!! And they are a hospitable bunch of chaps if ever I met any!!
PS. Chocolate is not a vegetable
PPS. Sorry for the unashamed in joke but that's the point of spending 40 hours in a car with 5 guys if you can't.

Location: UK TAIDOKAN | It was indeed a great trip and an adventure.
I take back all i've ever said about Skoda. Bills machine sped us from the coast of France to the Pyrenees and back, averaging 90mph it didn't let us down once! We'd heard that the South of France can be quite warm, so the cars automatic acclimatisation system was a bonus! it really was a HOT rod?
Also the in car entertainment was excellent, with truly intellegent games and banter. The musical support from Johnny Cash was..............................................
what Sensei wanted to listen to, and was great!
The training was superb, the surroundings beautiful and the French hospitality was terrific.
As Del Boy would say "joie de vivre"!!

| Listening to 'St Quentin' while driving through St Quentin was a beautiful symmetry in a journey full of interesting times. Challenging training and a great experience in all, undefeated by mere volcano. Establishing incontrovertibly that chocolate is a vegetable and a jellyfish is a fish...

What do you think? |

Thanks Bill, its an excellent read.
