Here's a link to Johann Georg Passchen's wrestling manual of 1659. Does number 5 look like kata mochi nikajo? Some sequential joint manipulation going on in 8 I think...

Here are a few more illustrations, this time from an anonymous Swiss manuscript c.1500. Any of these look something like Aiki techniques? Reasonable kamai going on in the third one?

Thanks Bill, makes for an interesting read

I especially like the fact that in the images (links in second post) Tori dislocates his own arm in his defensive strategy :-)
